SUMMARY:Junior School Show
DESCRIPTION:Junior School organised a cultural evening in the Pavate Hall on February 5\, 2023. It got off to a rocking start with Orchestra and Choir. A group of 52 students enthralled the audience with their superb performance. Anshveer Singh Sandhu sang ‘Dynamite’ (South Korean Boys Band BTS). The English Play “The Boy in the Picture” was the cynosure of all eyes. It depicted the life of a teenager having trouble in the school making friends and being bullied on top of it. Nobody understood him till a boy from a picture on the wall came to his rescue. Aradhya\, Tejasveer\, Erica\, Pratap\, Charvi\, Bhavishi\, Harsimrat\, Avijit\, Narayan\, Tejpal\, Rajpal and Vihaan essayed their respective roles immaculately. The Kashmiri folk dance created a soothing environment. Hetal\, Amrit\, Gourisha\, Jeetain\, Shama\, Japneet\, Charankamal\, Sonakashi\, Sheenamjot\, Ananya\, Harsheen and Saanvi exhibited excellent footwork. The Musical Play celebrated the individuality of every child. The Mime “Life of a Soldier” added to the list of electrifying performances. It depicted the life of an Indian soldier who does not think twice before making the ultimate sacrifice in the service of the nation. Khushpreet\, Pushpinder\, Mackpartap\, Jai Singh\, Armaanpreet\, Balsher\, Daneesh\, Jatin\, Prabhmehar\, Wahid Partap\, Suhan\, Lavejaap and Jaiveer worked as a well-knit team. Finally\, Giddha and Bhangra brought the curtain down on one of the finest shows of all time. Speaking on the occasion\, Headmaster Dr DC Sharma complimented the teachers who worked tirelessly for making the show a grand success. He thanked the parents to make it a point to visit the school to see their wards perform on the stage. Bursar Dr Ankur Samuel Birkett\, Head Junior Wing Ms Ruby Verma\, Dr Geetu Gupta and Dr Deepak Gupta were present.

SUMMARY:Passing Out Ceremony
DESCRIPTION:Justice Jasgurpreet Singh Puri\, Hon’ble Judge\, Punjab & Haryana High Court presided over the Passing Out Ceremony of ISC Batch 2023 at The Punjab Public School\, Nabha on January 29\, 2023. On this occasion\, the citations were read out highlighting the achievements of the students over the years. They were given mementos by the chief guest. Earlier the academic procession had moved from Tennis Courts to Pavate Hall with complete fanfare. Speaking on the occasion\, Justice Puri appealed to the students to cultivate passion to realise their dreams. Headmaster Dr DC Sharma gave a token of deeply felt respect and gratitude to the chief guest. Proposing the vote of thanks\, Dr Sharma thanked the chief guest for sharing the nuggets of wisdom with the students. It was followed by Dinner for the ISC Batch-2023\, parents and staff in the JK Kate Dining Hall.

The group learnt about the rich history and culture of the region. They visited the historic landmarks and museums of Mandav and participated in cultural activities. The group came back to the school with a newfound confidence and resilience. They have realised the importance of pushing yourself out of your comfort zone.

Speaking on the occasion\, Dr DC Sharma called upon the students of ISC Batch-2023 to lead a meaningful life and do the school proud with their noble deeds. Bhavyadeep Singh proposed the vote of thanks on behalf of Class-XI. The party ended with Dinner.

SUMMARY:PPS celebrates 74th Republic Day
DESCRIPTION:The 74th Republic Day was celebrated at The Punjab Public School\, Nabha with great enthusiasm. The proceedings got underway with the arrival of Headmaster Dr DC Sharma at the Headmaster’s Green at 9.00 am. All the three wings of the NCC were in attendance. He unfurled the national tri-colour and inspected the guard of honour. The scene shifted to the Pavate Hall. Hargun Buttar\, Sohana Ahmed and Surkhab Kaur expressed their thoughts on the relevance of the day in English\, Hindi and Punjabi respectively. Shravanti Lama conducted the event. Speaking on the occasion\, Dr Sharma emphasised the importance of practising the core values as enshrined in the Constitution. \nOn this occasion\, 15 girl students from Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School\, Jodhpur (Rajasthan) who are on PPS campus for the Domestic Intercultural Exchange Program under the aegis of AFS India performed Ghoomar\, the traditional folk dance of Rajasthan.

SUMMARY:PPS organises AFS Intercultural Exchange Program
DESCRIPTION:The Punjab Public School hosted 15 girl students and 2 teacher escorts Ms Elizabeth Vincent and Mr Vipul Prajapat from Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School\, Jodhpur (Rajasthan) for 6-day Domestic Intercultural Exchange Program under the aegis of AFS India from January 24-29\, 2023. They were formally introduced to the school in the Morning Assembly on arrival. It was followed by Ice-Breaking Activities in Girls’ Hostel Amphitheatre. There was a guest lecture by Mr Kamal Ali Khan\, Incharge\, Department of Athletics at Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports (NSNIS)\, Patiala in the afternoon in the Lecture Theatre. The remaining days were devoted to Folk Dance Session\, Fulkaari Workshop\, Robotics Workshop and Fine Art Workshop. The cultural delegation performed Ghoomar on the Republic Day giving glimpses of the rich Rajasthani culture. The itinerary included visit to Nanoki\, Rock Garden\, Elante Mall and Sukhana Lake as well. Besides\, the girls were part of the cycle tour. They also played a friendly basketball match. They visited the local industry\, did social work and took part in the Photo Walk. They paid obeisance at the local Gurudwara complex. In the Closing Ceremony organised in Malkani Hall on the final day\, Headmaster Dr DC Sharma emphasised the need to organise more such exchanges to further strengthen intercultural bonds. He complimented the AFS Coordinator Mr Sumit Sharma and the staff associated with the exchange for working tirelessly to make it a grand success.

SUMMARY:PPS Nabha hosts Service Project
DESCRIPTION:As many as eight prestigious schools of the country took part in The Punjab Public School Service Project: Unnati 2022 from December 12-14\, 2022. Mr RS Khatra (IPS)\, former IG\, Punjab Police inaugurated the project. A total of 90 delegates enlisted their participation in the service activities organised on and in the vicinity of PPS Nabha campus. They actualised the concept of service by doing some creditable work in the field. It comprised levelling of ground\, whitewashing and painting of the campus\, flooring of a classroom and initiating the process of construction of a toilet. Headmaster Dr DC Sharma presided over the closing ceremony. He expressed his gratitude to the Principals of participating schools for sending their delegates to make the event a great success. He called upon the delegates to ensure the idea of service spreads further to ameliorate the lot of the underprivileged in our society. \nIt is pertinent to mention here that Rangla Punjab organised on December 12 showcased the Punjabi culture for the delegates. They attended the Headmaster’s Dinner on December 13.

Harneet Kaur\, Garima Tayal and Mehtab Singh threw light on the life and teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Devji in English\, Hindi and Punjabi respectively. Boys and girls recited Jalanda Rakh Lai and Aisa Naam Niranjan Hoye. Speaking on the occasion\, Headmaster Dr DC Sharma called upon everyone to reflect on the teachings of the revered master for the ultimate redemption. Finally\, everyone visited Gurudwara Sahib in Sham Bagh and paid obeisance to the holy presence.

SUMMARY:PPS celebrates 62nd Founders’ Day : Punjab Guv presides over the function
DESCRIPTION:The Punjab Public School\, Nabha celebrated its 62nd Founders’ Day on October 21\, 2022. The proceedings got underway with the arrival of the chief guest Shri Banwarilal Purohit\, Governor of Punjab & Administrator\, Union Territory\, Chandigarh and Chairman\, the School Board of Governors. He took the salute and inspected the Guard of Honour. Headmaster Dr DC Sharma conducted the assembly and presented School Report. While presenting the Headmaster’s Report\, Dr Sharma profusely thanked the patrons of the school for rendering all possible help for the growth of the institution over the years. Mr Pritam Singh Gill was conferred the highly prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. The Award of Roll of Honour was conferred on Shri Suman Kant Munjal (S-165)\, an alumnus of PPS Nabha of 1969 Batch. President’s Championship Trophy for Senior Cock House for the year 2020 was lifted by Jumna House. On this occasion\, Junior School boys put up a grand aerobics display. The School Band put up an immaculate performance. PPS riders stole the show with their splendid performance. Speaking on the occasion\, Shri Purohit complimented the staff and students for putting up an excellent show. He said he was impressed with the highly disciplined students of the school. He appealed to them to cultivate the right values which form the basis for a highly successful life. Proposing the vote of thanks\, Headmaster Dr DC Sharma expressed his gratitude to Shri Purohit for sharing nuggets of wisdom with the students and assured him the school will do its level best to come up to his expectations. \nShri Jai Singh Gill\,  IAS  (Retd)\,  President\, Executive Committee\, the Board of Governors\, Lt Gen TK Sapru\, PVSM\, YSM (Retd) and Member of the Executive Committee and Board of Governors\, Dr Sumer Singh\, the renowned educationist\, First Lady Dr Anita Sharma and other prominent dignitaries were present on the occasion. \nA day prior on October 20\, Shri Umesh Munjal\, Managing Director of Highway Industries Limited (Hero Group) presided over the Variety Entertainment Programme. Orchestra\, English Play–The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde\, Folk Dance (Kalbelia)\, Giddha and Bhangra enthralled everyone present. It was followed by Prize Giving. Shri Munjal gave away prizes for academic and co-curricular activities. Seventeen (17) teachers were given Headmaster’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. The members of the Golden Jubilee ISC Batch of 1972 were felicitated on the occasion. They donated a trophy for the “All-Round Best Sports Girl of the Year” in the fond memory of Captain Harpal Singh (R-173) martyred in Sri Lanka while fighting LTTE. Proposing the vote of thanks\, Headmaster Dr DC Sharma thanked Shri Munjal for sparing some time from his busy schedule to make it to the function. He presented Shri Munjal with a token of deeply felt respect and gratitude.

DESCRIPTION:The 57th All India IPSC (U-19) Athletic Championship for Boys & Girls came to a grand finale on the campus of The Punjab Public School today with an unprecedented 500 plus athletes from 25 prestigious public schools of the country taking part in the 3-day event showing exemplary sportsmanship. Dr Inderbir Singh Nijjar\, Minister for Local Government\, Parliamentary Affairs\, Conservation of Land and Water and Administrative Reforms presided over the closing ceremony. Dr Nijjar is also the alumnus of PPS.\nIn Boys’ Section\, PPS lifted the IPSC Athletic Trophy with The Doon School\, Dehradun being the runners-up.\nIn Girls’ Section\, MNSS\, Rai lifted the IPSC Athletic Trophy with The Lawrence School\, Ooty being runners-up.\nThe award for the Best Athlete (Boys) was shared between Abhijai Singh from Mayo College\, Ajmer and Dinesh from MNSS\, Rai.\nThe award for the Best Athlete (Girls) was shared between Pooja Bishnoi from Rajmata Krishna Kumari Girls’ Public School\, Jodhpur and Advaythaa KK from The Lawrence School\, Ooty.\nThe March Past Trophy was shared between Kittur Rani Channamma School\, Karnataka and Welham Boys’ School\, Dehradun.\nIt may be recalled the Meet was declared open on Monday by Shri Harpal Singh Cheema\, Finance Minister\, Punjab and Hon’ble Member of the Board of Governors of The Punjab Public School.\nSpeaking on the occasion\, the chief guest Dr Nijjar complimented the Headmaster\, staff and students of PPS for having undertaken the mammoth exercise in a hassle-free manner. Mr Pramod Sharma also attended the conference as the Board member. The delegation of our school was allotted St Peter’s College in Oxford and Felsted School\, Essex.

DESCRIPTION:Lt Gen Karanbir Singh Brar\, AVSM\, Director General of Armoured Corps addressed boys and girls of Junior and Senior Wing in the Pavate Hall on October 4\, 2022. Reminiscing about his days in the school\, he paid glowing tributes to his teachers who nurtured him over the years to make him into what he is today. He said there is no better way to get success than to be consistent in your studies. He said there is no short cut to success. He appealed to Nabhaites to work honestly for the cause of the organisation. Lt Gen Brar is a highly decorated officer of the Indian army. The General Officer has twice received Commendation Cards from Chief of Army Staff and General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Command. He was conferred the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal by the President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind on Republic Day this year. Headmaster Dr DC Sharma thanked Lt Gen Brar profusely for taking some time out from his busy schedule to be amongst the students. He gave Lt Gen Brar a token of deeply felt respect and gratitude. DESCRIPTION:Two-day IPSC Literary Festival organised by The Punjab Public School concluded on October 8\, 2022. A total of 13 prestigious schools of the country took part in it. Dr Sudeep Bhangoo\, Formerly Principal\, Govt Mohindra College\, Patiala declared the festival open to the delight of everyone on October 7. Speaking on the occasion\, she said such festivals are important for the emotional well-being of students. A total of eight events formed part of the festival\, i.e. English Poetry Writing\, English Story Writing\, Dramatic Monologue\, Brochure Designing\, Hindi Poetry Writing\, Hindi Story Writing\, Hindi Poetry Recitation and Bilingual Turncoat Debate. Dr Rajesh Kumar Sharma\, Head\, Department of English\, Punjabi University\, Patiala presided over the Closing Ceremony. Speaking on the occasion\, he said literature is the pursuit of happiness which keeps on increasing as we march along the journey. He declared the IPSC Literary Festival closed. Harsimrat Kaur and  Hargunjot Kaur were declared Best Athletes in Section-A and B respectively. Inter-House Athletics Trophies for Junior and Senior Girls went to Ravi and Beas House respectively. Inter-House Athletics Trophy for Junior Houses went to Beas House. Inter-House Athletics Trophies for Middle and Seniors Houses went to Ravi and Beas House respectively. It is pertinent to mention here that Beas House has lifted this trophy for the fifth year consecutively. The Overall Athletics Championship trophy for Boys was lifted by Beas House. The March Past trophy was shared between Girls Squad and Sutlej House. Speaking on the occasion\, the chief guest Mr Pareek complimented the PPS team for putting up a good show. DESCRIPTION:PPS celebrated the 153rd birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi with great fervour. Boys and girls assembled in the Pavate Hall at 9.00 am. Tripatjot Kaur\, Garima Tayal and Harkirat Kaur expressed their thoughts on the relevance of the day in English\, Hindi and Punjabi respectively. The assembly was conducted by Gurshan Singh and Savreet Kaur. The rendering of Vaishnav Jan and Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram by the school choir gave a new feel to the occasion.  Speaking on the occasion\, Headmaster Dr DC Sharma dwelt at length on the Gandhian values of truth and non-violence. He urged everyone to embrace the principles of one of the greatest sons of India and read his writings to understand the man. The assembly concluded with national anthem. Deputy Headmaster Dr Gurvinder Kaur and Head Junior Wing Mrs Ruby Verma were also present.

SUMMARY:Teacher’s Day celebrations at PPS
DESCRIPTION:Teacher’s Day was celebrated on September 5\, 2022. A special assembly was organised in the Pavate Hall for the purpose. Tarun Singh captivated the audience with his soul-stirring Welcome Song. Prateet Kaur and Surkhab Kaur threw light on the life of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan in English and Punjabi respectively. Akshima recited a poem in Hindi highlighting the role of a teacher in a person’s life. A sabad Tu mera pita tu hai mera mata by the school choir gave the function a unique dimension. All the teachers and coaches were felicitated. It was followed by Akshay\, Lakshay and Apoorva singing a few Bollywood numbers entertaining everyone present. Mr Hitesh Gupta\, Mr Mohit Joshi and Mr Raj Sandhu also sang songs. The penultimate item was Giddha by senior girls. Mr Vikas Kumar spoke on the role of a teacher in our life. Finally\, Antakshari brought the curtain on celebrations for the day. Speaking on the occasion\, Headmaster Dr DC Sharma dwelt at length on the role of a teacher. He called upon the student community to make their lives meaningful by adhering to the guidance of their teachers. DESCRIPTION:3-day Shri JK Kate Memorial All India Inter-School Knowledge Conclave concluded at PPS on August 22\, 2022. Lt Gen TK Sapru\, PVSM\, YSM (Retd) and Member of the Executive Committee and Board of Governors of the school presided over the proceedings. A total of twelve (12) schools made it to the prestigious event. The conclave comprised of eight (8) events\, viz English Debate\, Creative Writing\, Quiz\, Book Review\, Movie Review\, Wall Magazine\, Spell Bee and Storytelling. English Debate and Spell Bee were the main highlights of the final day. Yadavindra Public School\, Patiala emerged victorious in English Debate followed by PPS as the runner-up. The programme was beautifully anchored by Narayan Bhardwaj and Saanvi Batta. Speaking on the occasion\, Headmaster Dr DC Sharma dwelt at length on the inner battle of Kurukshetra that goes on inside every individual. The challenge lies in fortifying the good qualities to nullify the influence of negative traits\, he said. He made a clarion call to boys and girls to reflect on what they have done to be a better version of themselves. The host school presented a play based on the theme followed by a keynote speech by a teacher of the school emphasizing on the condition of poverty and women’s rights in South Africa. The delegates were then sent to breakout rooms and they discussed the situation in their respective countries. They also dwelt upon gender stereotypes and how to overcome it.

SUMMARY:NCC (Air Wing) cadets observe Kargil Vijay Diwas
DESCRIPTION:The NCC (Air Wing) cadets of The Punjab Public School celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26\, 2022 as per the direction of Gp Hq NCC Patiala and 3 Punjab Air Sqn NCC Patiala. It is an important day in the history of independent India. The Operation Vijay culminated in the decisive victory for the Indian army on July 26\, 1999 in regaining control of the high outposts lost to Pakistan and re-establishing status quo ante. 527 soldiers laid down their lives and more than 1300 were wounded. The Indian Air Force worked shoulder to shoulder with the Indian Army and codenamed the operation as “Safed Sagar”. The cadets paid glowing tributes to the martyrs and took a pledge to serve the nation. On this occasion\, an online class was conducted in which the cadets drew paintings on Kargil Diwas. The exercise was undertaken under the supervision of NCC (Air Wing) Incharge Chief Officer Shahid Ahmed. Headmaster Dr DC Sharma complimented the students for their efforts.
