SUMMARY:PPS celebrates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav
DESCRIPTION:The 75th anniversary of India’s Independence was celebrated at The Punjab Public School with great fervour and enthusiasm. The proceedings got underway with the arrival of the chief guest Commander\, 1 Armoured Brigade and Station Commander for Nabha and Sangrur Brig Rajesh Nambiar at the Headmaster’s Green. All the three wings of the NCC were in attendance. Brig Nambiar hoisted the national tri-colour to the delight of everyone present and inspected the guard of honour. The scene shifted to the Pavate Hall. Kudrat Pandher\, Garima Tayal and Hirdayjeet Singh expressed their thoughts on the relevance of the day in English\, Hindi and Punjabi respectively. Two patriotic songs-Vande Matram and We shall overcome by the school choir lent a new feel to the atmosphere. Speaking on the occasion\, Brig Nambiar said patriotism is not necessarily exhibited by wearing uniform. Patriotism does not involve taking risks; risks are educated decisions\, he said. SUMMARY:NCC (Air Wing) cadets observe Kargil Vijay Diwas
DESCRIPTION:The NCC (Air Wing) cadets of The Punjab Public School celebrated Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26\, 2022 as per the direction of Gp Hq NCC Patiala and 3 Punjab Air Sqn NCC Patiala. It is an important day in the history of independent India. The Operation Vijay culminated in the decisive victory for the Indian army on July 26\, 1999 in regaining control of the high outposts lost to Pakistan and re-establishing status quo ante. 527 soldiers laid down their lives and more than 1300 were wounded. The Indian Air Force worked shoulder to shoulder with the Indian Army and codenamed the operation as “Safed Sagar”. The cadets paid glowing tributes to the martyrs and took a pledge to serve the nation. On this occasion\, an online class was conducted in which the cadets drew paintings on Kargil Diwas. The exercise was undertaken under the supervision of NCC (Air Wing) Incharge Chief Officer Shahid Ahmed. Headmaster Dr DC Sharma complimented the students for their efforts.

DESCRIPTION:The flag-in assembly was held at The Punjab Public School on August 1\, 2022. Deputy Headmaster Dr Gurvinder Kaur handed over the School Flag to Headmaster Dr DC Sharma who\, in turn\, deposited it in the custody of the Understudy Prefects Amol Singh and Naina Bath to be later unfurled atop the school building marking the resumption of the Academic Session after the Summer Break. The assembly was conducted by Ushaan Sandhu. Speaking on the occasion\, Headmaster Dr Sharma called upon boys and girls to justify their presence on the campus and work for the growth of the school. The proceedings came to a close with the singing of the national anthem.

SUMMARY:PPS organises All India IPSC Hockey (U-19) Boys Championship : PPS lifts runners-up trophy
DESCRIPTION:The 3-day All India IPSC Hockey (U-19) Boys Championship concluded at The Punjab Public School\, Nabha on July 23\, 2022. A total of seven prestigious schools\, viz. MNSS\, Rai\, Mayo College\, Ajmer\, The Daly College\, Indore\, The Doon School\, Dehradun\, The Emerald Heights International School\, Indore\, The Lawrence School\, Lovedale\, Ooty and The Punjab Public School\, Nabha took part in the event. The team from MNSS\, Rai lifted the winning trophy with PPS being the runners-up. Preetinder Singh from PPS was declared the Best Goalkeeper while Aviman Pratap Singh from The Doon School was adjudged the Best Defender. Varun from MNSS\, Rai was declared the Most Promising Player and Tanuj from MNSS\, Rai adjudged the Best Player of the tournament. All India IPSC Hockey (U-19) Bronze Medal went to The Doon School\, Dehradun. Senior Executive Director\, NSNIS (Patiala) Colonel Raj Singh Bishnoi was the chief guest. He gave away trophies and certificates to the teams and officials associated with the organization of the meet. Speaking on the occasion\, Col Bishnoi called upon the players to benefit from the robust sports ecosystem in the country. He complimented the teams for putting up a stiff fight and exhibiting quality hockey. Finally\, he declared the All India IPSC Hockey (U-19) Boys Championship closed. Headmaster Dr DC Sharma thanked Col Bishnoi for sparing time from his busy schedule to be part of the event. \nThe matches on Day-1 and 2 were played at NSNIS grounds courtesy of Senior Executive Director\, NSNIS\, Patiala Colonel Raj Singh Bishnoi. This was necessitated because of rain-soaked fields a day prior to the Opening Ceremony. Headmaster Dr DC Sharma presided over the proceedings of Day-1 and 2. It was the first major IPSC event PPS organised after the covid pandemic.

DESCRIPTION:The students of The Punjab Public School once again produced excellent result for ISC. Arpit Singh (Humanities) stood first with 98.25% marks. Simran (Commerce) stood second with 97.75% marks. Dilraj Singh (Science) and Jagnoor Kaur Boparai (Humanities) shared third position with 97.5% marks. \nIn Humanities\, Arpit Singh stood first with 98.25%. Jagnoor Kaur Boparai was second with 97.5%. Paramveer Singh Rattol was third with 95.75%. The batch average was 91.05%. 21 students passed with distinction. \nIn Commerce Stream\, Simran stood first with 97.75% followed by Anureet Kaur Pannu and Divjot Singh Brar (second) with 92.5% and Anmoldeep Singh (fourth) with 92%. The batch average was 86%. 30 students passed with distinction and 2 with first division. \nIn Science Stream\, Dilraj Singh stood first with 97.5% while Akram Khan and Armaan Singh Dhillon shared the second position with 93.5%. Gurwinder Singh was fourth with 93%. The batch average was 89.25%. 12 students passed with distinction and 1 with first division. \nOut of a total of 66 students who appeared in the examination\, 63 passed with distinction while 3 passed with first division. The batch average was 88.17%. One student made a perfect score of 100 in Political Science. \nThe Headmaster Dr. D.C. Sharma\, on behalf of the Management\, complimented the staff\, students\, parents and all concerned for an excellent result in ISC 2022.

Col Grewal visited his alma mater after a gap of 34 years. He was accompanied by Mr Pradyuman\, an alumnus of The Daly College\, Indore. Dr Sharma has rich teaching and administrative experience of 31 years. He served as the Deputy Headmaster at PPS from October 2011 to 2015. He has served in reputed schools of the country like The Daly College\, Indore and Vidyasagar School\, Indore. He has seven years of research-cum-teaching experience at DAVV Indore\, Meerut University\, Meerut and JNU Delhi. He worked as Senior Research Fellow in a project of Department of Biotechnology and has been Gold Medalist of 46JDPC at Air Force Administrative College Coimbatore. \nDr Sharma has authored about 26 articles and received numerous national and international awards including ALMA UK\, British Council\, MVLA and attended numerous national and international conferences. \nDr Sharma is well versed in many areas of professional and core competencies. He has shouldered many significant assignments by varied Boards immaculately. He has an illustrious record in the field of education\, sports\, NCC\, Pastoral Care\, Guidance & Counselling\, Resource Person of Pedagogical Leadership for Principals\, Educators and District Training Coordinator. He has been on educational visits to various countries like the USA\, the UK and the UAE. \nWe wish Dr Sharma a highly successful innings in his new role at The Punjab Public School\, Nabha.

SUMMARY:Plantation drive at PPS
DESCRIPTION:A plantation drive was organised at The Punjab Public School on June 29th under the aegis of RoundGlass Foundation. More than 800 saplings were planted near the Sewage Treatment Plant area. The Support Staff participated enthusiastically in this noble exercise. DESCRIPTION:In an era of science and technology\, critical thinking is the key to leapfrog to the next level of evolution. After decades of deliberation\, the New Education Policy was formulated. The thrust of the policy is primarily to do away with rote learning and develop the spirit of experimentation and enquiry. In keeping with the provisions of the policy\, Headmaster Mr Ajay Singh commissioned Steam Lab on June 28\, 2022 at The Punjab Public School. It will provide the students a platform for hands-on learning and help develop critical temper. They will understand real-life applications of complex concepts in art\, mathematics and sciences. Deputy Headmaster Dr Gurvinder Kaur\, Bursar Dr Ankur Samuel Birkett and IT Administrator Mr Lovkesh Singh Vermani were present on the occasion.

SUMMARY:Headmaster inaugurates Fountain Park
DESCRIPTION:In a brief ceremony on June 25\, Headmaster Mr Ajay Singh inaugurated the Fountain Park at The Punjab Public School. It creates a forest scene where wild animals can be seen gathered alongside a river. This will help the students to connect with and appreciate nature driving home the lesson in mutual co-existence and sensitize them about the impending challenges on flora and fauna as well. The Fountain Park is a visual treat especially at night with lights on which gives it a magical touch. Situated next to the Map of India\, it will be an added attraction for the children when they get back on the campus after the summer vacation gets over. Bursar Dr Ankur Samuel Birkett was also present for the inauguration ceremony. \n

SUMMARY:NCC Annual Training Camp-114
DESCRIPTION:Cadet Runsher Singh Dhillon adjudged Best Shooter in Firing \nAnnual Training Camp-114 for the NCC Naval Wing cadets was organised by 1 Punjab Naval Wing Unit\, Naya Nangal at Chitkara University\, Rajpura from 15th June to 24th June 2022. Eighteen (18) cadets from The Punjab Public School along with CTO Davinder Kumar Dutt participated in it. About 550 cadets of SD\, SW\, JD and JW from various schools\, colleges and institutions took part in the camp. The camp was run under the flag of the Commanding Officer Capt (IN) SS Saini. The cadets were provided intensive training in drill\, firing and ship modelling. Classes for Naval cadets were organised exclusively on the NCC syllabus like orientation\, communication\, seamanship\, boat work\, ship modelling\, personality development\, social and health awareness. ‘Yoga Divas’ was also celebrated on 21st June. Quiz\, debates\, and group discussions were also held. The cadets played various games like volleyball\, football\, basketball\, military games and tug of war. They participated in the cultural evening as well. The cadets from The Punjab Public School won prizes in military games\, tug of war and firing.  Cadet Runsher Singh Dhillon was adjudged the Best Shooter in Firing and bagged a gold medal. Other cadets also did their division ‘Ranjit’ proud by winning medal in various activities.

SUMMARY:Headmaster inaugurates CCTV Surveillance Room
DESCRIPTION:The surveillance is one of the fundamental components of any institution in modern times. It is very essential in educational institutions to ensure safety and security of students who are the biggest stakeholders. The Punjab Public School has been wary of it for a long time. Other than security mechanism put in place\, surveillance has worked as a useful adjunct. In keeping with the times\, the CCTV Surveillance Room was commissioned by Headmaster Mr Ajay Singh on June 20\, 2022. In a brief ceremony conducted for the purpose\, Mr Singh cut the ribbon welcoming him to the Surveillance Room. He took keen interest in seeing the equipment showing the live feed. Bursar Dr Ankur Samuel Birkett and Mr Mustak Mohammad\, CCTV Administrator were present on the occasion.

DESCRIPTION:Teachers’ Day was celebrated with great joy at The Punjab Public School\, Nabha. The morning started with An ode to Dr S Radhakrishnan. Class XII presented their dear teachers with their portraits. The play\, scripted by students\, recreated the classroom on stage and tickled the funny bone in audience. Beautifully it showcased the unspoken yet strongest bond between a student and teacher. The musical and singing performances by Mr Greg\, Mr Gordon with the school choir lent a melodious feel. Three teachers awarded for their outstanding contribution in the field of education were felicitated by the Head Master. The program also featured Dance performance by teachers. The celebration concluded with power packed and energetic Giddha and Bhangra featuring staff and students.\nHead Master Dr Jagpreet Singh extended his congratulations to Class XII for putting up a show of par excellence. He wished one and all A Very Happy Teachers’ Day…!

SUMMARY:Special Assembly and Happy Night Dinner
DESCRIPTION:A Special Assembly was held on Friday to bid farewell to the Headmaster Mr Ajay Singh. It was conducted by Kudrat Pandher. Chandan Singh and Apoorva Singh made the event special with their speeches. They expressed their gratitude to the Headmaster for his constant guidance\, motivation and encouragement. It was followed by the Dean of Academics Ms Ravinder Kaur expressing her gratitude to the Headmaster on behalf of the staff for helping the school sail through the tough times. Deputy Headmaster Dr Gurvinder Kaur read out the citation for the Headmaster. Finally\, Mr Singh was presented with a silver plaque and the citation. Speaking on the occasion\, Mr Singh reminisced his finest moments at PPS. He deliberated at length the challenges that he navigated during his short stint. He expressed his gratitude to the Chairman\, the School Board of Governors and the Hon’ble Governor of Punjab & Administrator\, Union Territory\, Chandigarh Shri Banwarilal Purohit\, President\, Executive Committee\, Shri Jai Singh Gill\, IAS (retd)\, all members of the Board of Governors\, President\, ONA Brig HPS Bedi\, ONA Executive Committee\, Old Nabhaites\, staff\, students and local administration for extending all possible help in running the school efficiently. Bursar Dr Ankur Samuel Birkett\, Head Junior Wing Mrs Ruby Verma and the staff were present. Finally\, everyone gathered in the Headmaster’s Green for the Happy Night Dinner before leaving for the well-deserved break. Music and interaction among the staff and students made it a memorable evening.

DESCRIPTION:All the members of the staff (teaching and administrative) assembled at “The Retreat” on Saturday for the Farewell Party in the honour of Headmaster Mr Ajay Singh who will soon be taking over as the Headmaster of The Scindia School\, Gwalior. The proceedings got underway with Mr Russelljit Singh giving his thanksgiving speech on behalf of the staff elaborating at length how Mr Ajay Singh was a treat to watch as he grappled with challenges one after another. Mr Saurav Srivastava gave an emotional speech bordering on learnings working with Mr Singh. Speaking on the occasion\, Bursar Dr Ankur Samuel Birkett threw light on the role played by Mr Singh in bettering the prospects of the school. Mr Hitesh Gupta\, Mr Mohit Joshi and Mr Raj Sandhu regaled the audience with their melodious voice. Deputy Headmaster Dr Gurvinder Kaur spoke on the stellar role played by Mr Singh as a leader who showed the way in the midst of encircling gloom. SUMMARY:Dumb charades\, musical chairs\, instrumental make a delightful evening
DESCRIPTION:Every Saturday is devoted to an activity at PPS now. Boys and girls look forward to it with a lot of anticipation as it involves an opportunity to engender bonhomie and camaraderie and mutual learning. On December 5\, Dumb Charades and Musical Chairs were organised. The students were segregated into 3 groups–Grade 12 (first)\, Ravi and Sutlej (second) and Beas and Jumna (third). Each group was further divided into two sub-groups. Boys and girls were given some chits with movie titles ranging from War Dogs to Saggi Phull. One member of the sub-group was supposed to pick a chit and make the other group guess the movie by displaying his acting skills. This generated a lot of interest and the atmosphere became simply electrifying. It provided glimpses of some exceptional acting skills. It was followed by much awaited Musical Chairs. It was absolutely rollicking. Kartikey\, Angrej and Simran Kaur emerged winners. The students played an instrumental “Pipeline” originally by The Ventures. Vinayak on electric guitar\, Lakshjeet Singh on acoustic guitar and Lakshay Sharma was on drums enthralled everyone. The evening became special with Mr Greg Ross singing “Proud Mary” by the band CCR. Finally\, Headmaster Mr Ajay Singh sang a soulful Hindi number O Hansini Meri Hansini to the delight of everyone present. Dr Rakesh Alfred\, Deputy Headmaster and Dr Ankur Samuel Birkett\, Bursar were present on the occasion.

DESCRIPTION:The opening ceremony of the first seven-a side Hockey Night Inter-house Championship- 2022 for was held at the Swimming Pool lawns of The Punjab Public School\, Nabha on 10th May. \nThese matches were played in two phases – league cum Knock out. It is the first time in the history of PPS that Night Championship is organised in the able guidance of the Headmaster\, Mr Ajay Singh. \nOut of all the four teams\, two teams-Ravi and Sutlej were able to qualify for the finals of these league matches. \nRavi House team\, however stole the match in the final minute after Hirdey deflected the long pass to end the game 9-1 in Ravians favour. Sutlej House consolidated the second position while Ravi stood first with 17 points in seven matches. (R00451) Hirdey Partap Singh Sadiora was awarded as the Best Player of the Tournament for scoring the highest goals. \nCertificates were distributed to all the players of the four teams by the Headmaster\, Mr. Ajay Singh. The Deputy Headmaster\, Dr. Gurvinder Kaur and the Head Jr. Wing Mrs. Ruby Verma were present for final event. All in all\, it was an extremely enjoyable tournament.

The English Play “A Marriage Proposal” by Anton Chekhov made the audience burst into peals of laughter. The semi-classical dance showcased the richness of Indian culture. The mime conveyed the message of unity in diversity. Western Dance infused new life into the show. “Lovely” (Billie Eilish & Khalid) by Lakshjeet Singh mesmerized everyone. Giddha was an instant hit with the audience given girls sang boliyans in real-time. Finally\, the electrifying Bhangra brought the curtain down on one of the most exquisite cultural evenings. \nSpeaking on the occasion\, Headmaster Mr Ajay Singh complimented the house staff for putting up an excellent show. He expressed his gratitude to the parents for turning up in huge numbers to see their wards perform on stage. He cut the farewell cake as well in honour of his next assignment at The Scindia School\, Gwalior. Deputy Headmaster Dr Gurvinder Kaur\, Head Junior Wing Ms Ruby Verma and the staff were present.

DESCRIPTION:To create the awareness about sustainable water management and to promote and propagate the concepts and technologies of development\, conservation and management of water resources\, an Exhibition was put up in Miss Malkani Hall on May 27th \,2022  by Cambridge students of Class VII.Students provided detailed information regarding sustainable water conservation as well as current scenario in today’s world through their different models based on Water Purification\, Roof top harvesting\, Water Dam Technology etc. This exhibition was formally inaugurated by the Headmaster\, Mr. Ajay Singh in the presence of the Head Jr. Wing\, Mrs. Ruby Verma\, Coordinator Cambridge\, Mr. Abhishek Singh\, staff and students of the Jr. School. Each model was based on the theme of Saving Water\, the future prospective in area of water use as well as current condition of water with respect to water demand\, scarcity etc. The Young Nabhaites learned about the proper use of water in day -to- day life\, water harvesting in domestic use\, reduce the wastage of water\, some techniques to save the water etc. The Headmaster praised the efforts put by students and encouraged them to save every drop of water.

DESCRIPTION:Jumna House organised the cultural evening on May 21\, 2022. It was themed “Paroxysms”. Welcome Song “Beautiful Sunday” by Daniel Boone set the tone for the evening. The English Play “The Refund” by Fritz Karinthy was an instant hit with the audience by its sheer hilarity. The mime gave a message on substance abuse. The Western Dance took the show to a different level altogether. Salsa added to the virtuoso performances. Folk dance depicted the rich culture of Kashmir\, Manipur\, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu. The solo song (ghazal) Aaj jane ki zid na karo by Apoorva Singh was highly appreciated by the audience. Farida Khannum would definitely have envied Apoorva do this classic act. Finally\, Giddha and Bhangra brought the curtain down on a high-voltage performance by Jumnites.\nSpeaking on the occasion\, Headmaster Mr Ajay Singh complimented the staff and students for an excellent show. DESCRIPTION:Beas House organised the cultural evening on May 15\, 2022. It was dedicated exclusively to celebrate the International Day of Families. Welcome Song “My child arrived just the other day” by Harry Chapin set the tone for the evening. The English Play “The Angel Intrudes” by Floyd Dell depicted an angel falling in love with an earthling and vanishing with her depriving Jimmy Pendleton of the love of his life. The Western Dance set the stage on fire. The mime bordered on restoring the family life to it pre-pandemic mode. It focused on mobile addiction which is the bane of the present generation. The folk dance was a fine fusion of Naga tribal\, Bengali and Garwali culture. A solo song “Tujh se naraz nahi zindagi” by Parikalpana was the high point of the show. Giddha was quite innovative given the girls sang boliyans in real time. The stand-up comedy by Avreen brought out the quandary of a girl who is trying her level best to make sense of the education system. Finally\, the vibrant Bhangra brought the curtain down on a high-voltage performance by Beasians.\nSpeaking on the occasion\, Headmaster Mr Ajay Singh expressed his gratitude to parents for turning up in huge numbers to see their wards perform on the stage. He was appreciative of the efforts put in by the house staff to make the show a grand success. Deputy Headmaster Dr Gurvinder Kaur\, Head Junior Wing Ms Ruby Verma and the staff were present.
