The day commemorates the valour and sacrifice of Indian soldiers during Operation Vijay\, which culminated in a historic victory for India on July 26\, 1999. The operation led to the successful recapture of key positions in the Kargil sector that had been occupied by Pakistani intruders\, restoring the sanctity of the Line of Control. \nA total of 527 brave soldiers laid down their lives\, and over 1300 were wounded during the conflict. The Indian Air Force\, working in close coordination with the Indian Army\, played a pivotal role in the operation\, which was codenamed Safed Sagar. \nAs part of the observance\, cadets paid heartfelt tributes to the martyrs and took a solemn pledge to serve the nation with dedication and integrity.
