SUMMARY:NCC (Air Wing) Cadets Observe Kargil Vijay Diwas
DESCRIPTION:The NCC (Air Wing) cadets of The Punjab Public School solemnly observed Kargil Vijay Diwas on July 26\, 2025\, in accordance with the directives of Gp HQ NCC Patiala and 3 Punjab Air NCC Patiala. The day commemorates the valour and sacrifice of Indian soldiers during Operation Vijay\, which culminated in a historic victory for India on July 26\, 1999. The operation led to the successful recapture of key positions in the Kargil sector that had been occupied by Pakistani intruders\, restoring the sanctity of the Line of Control. \nA total of 527 brave soldiers laid down their lives\, and over 1300 were wounded during the conflict. The Indian Air Force\, working in close coordination with the Indian Army\, played a pivotal role in the operation\, which was codenamed Safed Sagar. \nAs part of the observance\, cadets paid heartfelt tributes to the martyrs and took a solemn pledge to serve the nation with dedication and integrity. An online class was also conducted to mark the occasion\, during which cadets created thought-provoking paintings reflecting the spirit of the day. \nAddressing the cadets\, Headmaster Dr DC Sharma highlighted the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas and urged them to draw inspiration from the courage\, patriotism\, and selfless service of the armed forces. The observance served as a poignant reminder of the supreme sacrifice made by our soldiers and reinforced the values of duty\, honour\, and country among the young cadets.

The English Play “Mind Your Language” by Vince Powell was an instant hit with the audience. Centred on an English teacher’s humorous struggle to teach the language to a class of transnational students\, it was both entertaining and relatable. The Solo Song “Har Ghari Badal Rahi Hai” by Satyajeet was a lilting addition. It was followed by the Semi-Classical Dance. A duet Sufi song “Jugni” by the duo of Khushmeen and Sukhman was a sheer revelation. The next item was Kalbelia\, the folk dance of Rajasthan. The mime on the journey of human evolution kept the audience glued to their seats. Finally\, the cultural evening ended with the energetic performance of Giddha and Bhangra.

The very first item Orchestra based on “Raag Bhairavi” gave a rollicking start to the show. “Believer song” struck a chord with the audience. It was followed by the English play “Julius Caesar” by William Shakespeare. The acting troupe of Beas House made the historic betrayal come alive on the stage. “Maa song” by Parikshit Gupta lent a new feel to the evening. Semi-Classical and Gujarati Folk Dance “Garba” took the artistic excellence to a whole new level. The mime sensitised everyone to the issue of ragging in educational institutions. DESCRIPTION:Baisakhi Welfare Fete was inaugurated by Headmaster Dr DC Sharma in the Headmaster’s Green on April 13\, 2025. A large number of Old Nabhaites and parents turned up on the occasion. Many games and eatables stalls were put up catering to varied tastes and likings. Boys and girls enjoyed Fishing the soft drink bottles\, Golf putting\, Scoring a goal (football) \n\, One stump to bowl at\, Hockey scoop\, Jabberwocky\, Frisbee\, Coin the bucket\, Hoopla (ring & carry)\, Car race/dice game\, Agility Ladder Twist\, Toppling the cans\, Basketball through a tyre\, Dart shooting\, All is well\, Horse riding and Juke Box. Nimboo Pani Stall was another attraction. Admission Cell/PPS Souvenir got a huge response. Tambola added to the charm. Departments of Art\, Craft\, Photography\, Geography\, IT & Robotics\, Mathematics\, Chemistry\, Physics\, Biology\, History\, Historical Section\, Music and Band put up exhibitions as well. Headmaster Dr DC Sharma acknowledged with thanks the contribution of the parents in the growth of the school. He said his thrust was on making the students globally competent.

DESCRIPTION:Inter-Wing Marching Competition (2024-25)  \nInter-Wing Marching Competition (JD) was held opposite the school auditorium on February 27\, 2025. Boys and girls of all the three wings of NCC (Air\, Naval and Army) took part in it. NCC (Air Wing) Commander Tejasveer Singh Badyal\, NCC (Naval Wing) Commander Gurkirat Singh and NCC (Army Wing) Commander (Boys) Namandeep Singh and NCC (Army Wing) Commander (Girls) Charvi Sharma led from the front. All the wings displayed grand marching and drill. Headmaster Dr DC Sharma presided over this competition. Speaking on the occasion\, Dr Sharma enlightened everyone present on the relevance of the National Cadet Corps and exhorted boys and girls to join the defence forces. He complimented the organisers for a hassle-free competition. The panel of judges comprised Mr Mohit Joshi\, Capt Som Singh (Retd) and Capt Gurjant Singh (Retd). Kudrat Kaur Rai conducted the proceedings efficiently. Tejasveer Singh Badyal was adjudged the Best Commander (Air Wing). The Air Wing secured first place\, followed by the Army Wing (Girls) in second\, the Army Wing (Boys) in third\, and the Naval Wing in fourth. The Inter-Wing Marching Competition for Best Wing Trophy for the year 2024 presented by Gen Bikram Singh went to Air Wing.

The purpose of the visit was to inspire and motivate the young cadets and to inspect the ongoing training activities.\nThe programme commenced with a ceremonial guard of honour presented by the cadets\, showcasing their discipline and coordination. This was followed by formal welcome of the Commanding Officer by Headmaster Dr DC Sharma\, along with the Chief Officer (Air Wing)\, Mr Shahid Ahmed and Third Officer Naval\, Mr Davinder Kumar Dutt.\nThe Commanding Officer addressed the young NCC cadets and students\, emphasizing the importance of discipline\, leadership\, and patriotism in shaping responsible citizens. He encouraged the cadets to pursue excellence in every sphere of life and shared inspiring anecdotes from his own journey in the armed forces.\nThe Commanding Officer interacted with the cadets\, addressing their queries and providing valuable guidance on career opportunities in the defence sector. He also inspected the NCC training equipment and appreciated the efforts of the NCC trainers and the school management in promoting NCC activities.\nHeadmaster Dr DC Sharma presented a token of gratitude to the Commanding Officer for his visit in the school. The visit of the Commanding Officer was a source of immense motivation for the young cadets\, instilling in them a greater sense of duty and patriotism. Upon arrival\, an engaging ice-breaking session set the tone for the event.\nThe Opening Ceremony featured a flag ceremony where Eshreet Kaur proudly represented PPS\, Nabha. Renowned environmentalists Mr Rakesh Khatri\, ‘Nestman of India\,’ and Mr Animesh Kapoor inspired delegates with insights on sustainable nest-making to protect bird habitats. Delegates then participated in Baraza discussions on the theme ‘Environmentalism’\, followed by a serene mindfulness session at ‘Astachal.’\nThe second day was filled with creative workshops\, including block printing\, paper mâché\, and street play. The evening witnessed an energetic Punjabi dance performance by delegates from PPS. On the third day\, students visited ‘Meadows\,’ an Eco Park maintained by Scindia boys\, where they engaged in the ‘seed bomb activity.’ Later\, a captivating light and sound show at Gwalior Fort brought history to life. The proceedings got underway with the arrival of Headmaster Dr DC Sharma at the Headmaster’s Green at 9.00 am. All the three wings of the NCC were in attendance. He unfurled the national tri-colour and inspected the guard of honour. Eshreet Kaur\, Nimrat Kaur and Akashdeep Singh expressed their thoughts on the relevance of the day in English\, Hindi and Punjabi respectively. The Senior Choir sang two patriotic songs–Vande matram and Jag utha hai sara vatan sathiyo.\nJapveer Singh and Gurchet Singh from Junior School delivered speeches in English on the significance of the day. Arnav Chaudhary recited a poem in Hindi filling everyone with patriotic fervour. A skit reminded everyone that patriotism is not just about loving our country\, but about contributing to its growth through our actions\, integrity\, and compassion. The youth hold the power to shape the future\, and every small effort counts towards a better tomorrow. A group of girls mesmerized everyone with their dance performance based on the theme of soldier’s love for his motherland and his willingness to sacrifice himself. Patriotic songs−Sare Jahan Se Achcha and Hum Honge Kamyab sung by the Junior Choir captured the essence of India’s indomitable spirit.\nSpeaking on the occasion\, Dr Sharma emphasised the importance of abiding by the Constitution to be ideal citizens. The proceedings ended with singing of the national anthem.

He delivered his talk on the topic “Making a Difference.” He said educators can make a difference by providing 360° exposure to learners covering every aspect of personality development. The student-teacher bonding goes a long way in inspiring learners to be changemakers\, he said. It is high time the legacy of old boarding schools be disbanded and schools made more transformational. Additionally\, it is vital for students to understand the nuanced difference between charity and service. While charity often addresses immediate needs\, service is rooted in sustainability and empowerment\, cultivating a mindset that seeks long-term solutions to societal challenges. Schools must prepare learners to face the complexities of a rapidly changing world\, equipping them with resilience\, adaptability\, and a proactive mindset. By embracing this holistic and forward-thinking approach\, educators can truly transform the educational experience\, enabling students not only to excel academically but also to thrive as empathetic\, confident\, and visionary individuals in the real world.The second keynote speaker of the day was Capt AJ Singh. He delivered his talk on the topic “Rules are for Fools.” He dwelt at length on issues faced by boarders. It is high time we shunned stereotypes\, pre-conceived notions and moribund traditions. The so-called “biases” have to be done away with to make a more cohesive and empathetic boarding schools community. The stigma around vital issues concerning teenagers has to be removed. Children need understanding and acceptance\, he said. Everything cannot be decided by outdated rules.The third keynote speaker of the day was Dr DC Sharma\, Headmaster\, The Punjab Public School\, Nabha. He gave his talk on the topic “Digital Pedagogy & Learning Outcome Based School Education (Part-I)”. As a groundwork\, he dwelt on Abraham Lincoln’s letter to his son’s teacher encapsulating parental expectations and a teacher’s role in the life of a child.The fourth keynote speaker of the day was Dr Varun Kapoor\, IPS\, currently Special Director General of Police\, Madhya Pradesh. He gave his talk on the topic “Challenges to Security in Cyberspace”. Sensitizing teachers on the topic\, he said the only way to prevent getting trapped is changing your mindset with regard to the online behaviour. He said children are highly vulnerable to cybercrime and teaching them preventive measures is the only way out. \nDay-2The day started with Dr DC Sharma\, Headmaster\, The Punjab Public School continuing where he left on Day-1. The forum brought together 88 Heads and Round Square Coordinators from 48 schools across India\, Pakistan\, Dubai\, Jordan\, and Armenia. It provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with individuals from various countries and welcome new members into the Round Square community.\nThe forum began with a school tour\, followed by the Opening Ceremony on the evening of November 8\, 2024. The formal welcome address was delivered by Principal Papri Ghosh and Ms Rajbir Sandhu\, Schools’ Support Director for the South Asia and Gulf Region. \nOn Day 2\, Rachael Westgarth\, CEO of Round Square\, introduced new members to the forum\, followed by a presentation on Round Square’s current initiatives and future plans. The participants engaged in networking sessions\, sharing best practices among Heads and Coordinators from different schools. Table discussions focused on plans for the upcoming year\, including ideas for pre- and post-conference tours for RSIC 2025 and Round Square Day. The day concluded with the Closing Ceremony on the evening of November 9\, where the vote of thanks was delivered by John O’Connor\, Chairman of Round Square\, via Zoom. \nOn Day 3\, November 10\, 2024\, the group visited the historic city of Nizwa. In Girls’ Section\, MNSS\, Rai lifted the IPSC Athletics Trophy with The Daly College\, Indore being the runners-up.\nThe award for the Best Athlete (Boys) was bagged by Udathveer Pasricha from The Doon School\, Dehradun. The award for the Best Athlete (Girls) was bagged by Pooja Bishnoi from RKKGPS\, Jodhpur. The March Past Trophy was lifted by Welham Boys’ School\, Dehradun.\nSpeaking on the occasion\, the chief guest Mr Paramjit Singh Goraya\, IPS (Retd) complimented the Headmaster\, staff and students of PPS for having undertaken the mammoth exercise in such a hassle-free manner. DESCRIPTION:NCC Annual Training Camp-93 \nAnnual Training Camp-93 for NCC Naval Wing cadets was held at NCC Academy\, Malout. 21 cadets along with ANO\, Davinder Kumar Dutt of the Naval wing from The Punjab Public School participated in the 10-day camp. This annual training camp was organized by the 3 Punjab Naval Wing Unit Bathinda from November 5-14\, 2024. About 280 cadets participated in this camp from various schools\, institutions\, and colleges. The camp was run under the flag of the Commanding Officer of Bathinda Unit. Cadets were provided intensive training in PT\, Drill\, Parade\, Firing\, and Ship Modelling. The classes organised as per NCC syllabus covered orientation\, communication\, seamanship\, boat work\, ship modeling\, personality development\, social and health awareness. Various games like Volleyball\, Kho-Kho\, and Tug-of-war were played between NCC cadets. Our school team won the first position in the Volleyball and Tug-of-war. A cultural show was also organized. PPS cadets performed Bhangra\, Mime\, Public Speaking and Poetical Recitation. Finally\, they returned back to the school with lots of training and leadership skills.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was conferred on Shri Ramesh Chander Bhalla\, Ex-Mathematics Teacher & Deputy Headmaster. The Award of Roll of Honour was conferred on Shri Rajeev Bakshi\, a distinguished corporate leader. The President’s Championship Trophy for Senior Cock House for the year 2023 was lifted by Sutlej House. On this occasion\, Junior School boys put up a grand aerobics display. The School Band put up an immaculate performance. PPS riders stole the show with their splendid performance. Speaking on the occasion\, Shri Kataria complimented the staff and students for putting up an excellent show. He said he was impressed with the quality work being done by the staff at PPS to shape life and character of students. Proposing the vote of thanks\, Headmaster Dr DC Sharma expressed his gratitude to Shri Kataria for his words of encouragement. Shri Jai Singh Gill\, IAS (Retd)\, President\, Executive Committee\, the Board of Governors\, hon’ble Board Members and other prominent dignitaries were present on the occasion.

DESCRIPTION:PPS organises Mini-Founders’ Day as a prelude to 64th Founders’ Day  \nThe Punjab Public School kicked off the 64th Founders’ Day celebrations in style on Saturday. A Variety Entertainment Programme was organised in the evening. It comprised Orchestra\, PowerPoint Presentation on Activities in School\, Semi-classical Dance\, an English Play “The Proposal” by Anton Chekov\, Giddha and Bhangra. Solo Songs by Parikalpna Gupta and Aadhya Negi added charm to the colourful evening. Mr Rajeev Bakshi\, a distinguished corporate leader and an alumnus of the school presided over the function. The chief guest gave away prizes to students for academic and co-curricular activities. Twelve (12) teachers were given Headmaster’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Speaking on the occasion\, Mr Bakshi reminisced his days while in school and exhorted the student community to work hard to carve a niche for themselves in a highly competitive world. Proposing the vote of thanks\, Headmaster Dr DC Sharma thanked Mr Bakshi for sparing some time from his busy schedule to make it to the function. He presented the chief guest with a token of deeply felt respect and gratitude. In the afternoon\, President\, Executive Committee\, Shri Jai Singh Gill and Mr Bakshi visited the various exhibitions put up by students.
